Every responsible food supplier is concerned with food safety and increasing legislation exists to sharpen this interest. When there is a failure in food safety, it is almost invariably discovered too late. The impact on the consumer is considerable: impact on health and loss of confidence in their supplier: it all impacts reputation. The cost is high - sometimes unsustainable: compliance failure, loss of efficiency, productivity, and profit; adverse publicity, expensive product recall, loss of reputation, increased cost of advertising and public relations to recover the lost image. 

Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point forms the basis of a safe food system which is incorporating the Codex Alimentarius guideline, commonly known as the HACCP principles as it applies to the food and drink industry. It is a requirement in most countries and rapidly being established as legislation for the food and drink industry to demonstrate "Due Diligence". The pressure for food safety is increasing - but help is at hand. 

SFC is committed to assisting its members in ensuring food safety from field to plate.

SFC will help you in the development of food safety management methods, which create lasting customer-supplier partnerships and confidence in food delivery. Because SFST is a cross-industry, food safety professionals from all disciplines can learn how others successfully manage food safety and apply winning techniques. We support these national efforts and participate actively in national standards development and conformity assessment harmonization. 

SFC AIMS: 

To interpret and communicate food laws, regulations, and standards in a  language and through channels accessible to laypersons.
  • To provide information, education, networking for food practitioners.
  • To provide an accredited training program.
  • To provide technical and legal helplines.
  • To provide a register of accredited consultants and auditors.
  • To provide the criteria for measuring an effective Food Safety Management system.
  • To provide the platform for all Food Agencies to jointly develop an International Food Safety, Management Standard.
  • To provide technical assistance for making production flow charts, process improvement, production management, and supply chain management of food
  • To provide assistance in the implementation of HACCP, ISO 22000:2005, ISO 9001:2008, ISO 14001, ISO 18000, IFS, BRC, and Global Gap
